About

I'm Erick Bórquez. I'm 25, based in Mexico, and I'm the founding engineer at CharmIQ, a collaborative workspace where humans and AI agents edit documents together in real time. I've been building it for four years, and most of the problems I work on don't have established solutions yet. The core challenge is giving an AI agent coherent context and feedback inside a structured, collaborative document that any participant can reshape at any moment.

I love hard problems, the kind where you spend twenty minutes staring at something and your mental model keeps shifting until it finally clicks. That feeling is basically why I got into programming, and I never got tired of it.

I got into programming through competitive programming, ICPC regionals four times, hundreds of problems solved, and four years teaching data structures and algorithms at my university. Algorithms taught me how to think. Everything I've built since is downstream of that.

I think in systems. I notice feedback loops and second-order effects before I notice the obvious thing, which is sometimes a strength and sometimes means I overcomplicate a problem that had a simple answer. I'm working on that. (Not very hard.)

I drink a lot of coffee. I write about the things I build and the problems I find interesting.
